Come back Thursday and we’ll have ourselves some babies…
Yesterday’s Dr. visit was long, but fairly uneventful. The midwife was only there for 2 minutes, as she had to leave for another delivery. But, as she was leaving, she asked what day would be 36 weeks (the answer is Thursday, Aug. 11th). She then said,
"Come back Thursday and we’ll have ourselves some babies"
And then she left.
Umm… What? Does she know something we don’t know?
Dry Run - Remember the pillows next time!
After a very long night, we are back home with little but experience to show for it. We left last night after 4 hours of contractions that were getting closer together. A couple hours later, we were admitted to the hospital for overnight observation. Not much changed overnight, so we were discharged around 9am this morning.
At least it wasn’t a total loss. For one, we did get to finally visit the maternity ward at the hospital (lol)! We also realized a few things that we meant to bring but forgot, most notably our own pillows (I don’t know how we forgot those)! Hospital pillows have not improved in the 5+ years since we did this last.
Anyway, thanks to our friends and family for being supportive and flexible. We are truly blessed!
Why is it so hard to pick two simple names?
We’ve been trying - really, we have. The twins could be here any day now, and yet we are no closer to picking names for them than we were 6 months ago. Our friends keep asking, and our answer is always the same: “Umm…”
Our indecision is complicated by the precedent that we have (not necessarily intentionally) set. We both have “J” names, and the girls are both “R”s, so we are inclined to pick 2 names that begin with the same letter. Therein lies the problem. We have quite a few names that we like, but can’t decide on two that match. We have even gone through the top 1000 names of 2010 according to the Social Security Administration. It didn’t really help…
In the big picture, we know it really doesn’t matter. So, why is it so hard?
